I think the whole backwards issue is based on the fact that it is already difficult to clearly hear the lyrics playing them in forward. On all the examples I’ve listen to I “heard” nothing. So all you hear is based on the same brain mechanism than all superstition! And I believe you can take it for granted that there wasn’t any purpose on the behalf of the artists.
