Backwards Singing
December 29th, 2007During a segment of The Hour (one in which I was very lucky to be a part of) they showed a backwards clip of a man singing Stairway to Heaven in reverse. Here is some guy doing the same thing, but with a more patriotic song. All the activities he preforms are to add a little spice to the reverse section of the piece.
I don’t know if this would count as truly backmasking, but it’s close enough that some of you may find it interesting.

Become apparent in the middle? The balloons gave it away right at the beginning.

You’re more astute than me… I didn’t get it until the middle. Also I might have given too good of a hint by saying it is a “patriotic” song.

This is like an homage to The Beatles song “I’m So Tired”. Say the “backwards phrase” forward, and you will find it translates exactly into the whole “Paul is a dead man. Miss him….”, or at least if you look for it. I think Lennon might’ve liked the whole “Paul is dead” rumor ad wanted to play along. This might be his attempt at recording a backwards message by speaking backwards.

Must have taken some practising before he could nail that one. Pretty impressive but shouldn’t it be called forward masking? :-)

You make a very compelling point Patrik.
