Three Seconds Everyday 2023

Last year when I published my One Second Everyday video, I got a lot of positive responses.

My dad and my father-in-law both said it was nice but added that it would be better if each day were a bit longer than a second. I thought these poor guys and their old-fashioned ideals about how long cuts should be… but nevertheless I decided to humour them and tried re-rendering just one month from last year as a three second per day video. To my dismay, I discovered that they are totally right, the video is much better with longer cuts. So this year, using the One Second Everyday app, I have created a “three-second everyday” video. Please enjoy:

And I also did the classic one second version:

One Second Everyday 2022

I’ve been making One Second Everyday compilations for ten years now. It’s so hard to believe because when I started I just thought it would take a year and be done. It turns out, it’s a Sisyphean task but I get such a positive response each year that I don’t mind. Below is the one I just wrapped up for 2022.

One Second Everyday 2021

Having a three year old and a two year old brings its share of ups and downs but the ups are super fun. We didn’t travel a whole lot however we found fun things to do here in Lethbridge and on the occasional trip to see the grandparents.

Here’s a look at one second of each of my days during 2021.

One Second Everyday 2020

Yesterday I completed my One Second Everyday project for 2020. It turned into the Nesslin and Ian show given that this year I was working from home for a lot of the year. One can really see them growing up over the last 12 months in this video.

I also got a bit of help from Andrea because on the few days that I missed getting a one second clip I was able to borrow any live photos or videos that she happened to take.

It doesn’t seem like much, but it’s really tough to get a clip every single day. The worst is on days when you think about getting a clip and you know it will literally just take a second but then you think oh I better try and get something more original or interesting or oh, I’m going to see friends today so I’ll get a clip with them in it and in the end you just forget to do it. The worst.

One Second Everyday 2018

I’m closing out the year with my annual One Second Everyday video (see below). Lots of exciting things for us this year — especially wonderful was the arrival of our little baby girl, Nesslin. Astute viewers will see foreshadowing that 2019 is also looking to be a great year.

One Second Everyday 2016

Each and every day over the last four years, I’ve been recording short videos, cropping them down to one second clips, and compiling them into yearly summaries.

Here is the one from 2016:

Once again I have completed a year of “One Second Everyday” videos. I travelled quite a bit in 2014 and despite the occasional rocky week or four, it’s been a fantastic year.

Some highlights include:

  • teaching shop in Vulcan
  • playing chess against a grandmaster
  • travelling to Palm Springs and Disneyland
  • travelling to Salt Spring and Vancouver Island
  • enjoying music and friends at South Country Fair
  • trip to BC interior

  • back to Palm Springs / Palm Desert
  • visiting with family and friends at Christmas time
  • I hope you have as much fun watching my year as I had living it.
