Ze Frank’s been creating videos specifically for Buzz Feed. Here’s one on dealing with the economic downturn from his series Hard Times:
The Remnants is a post-apocalyptic comedy written and directed by John August and stars Justine Bateman, Michael Cassidy, Ben Falcone, Ze Frank, Ernie Hudson, and Amanda Walsh. It’s now available in it’s full length version: The Remnants.
Shot during the WGA strike in February 2008, it’s unlikely that this brilliant work will ever be anything more than a pilot.
For the past few months, the pilot has been shopped around to advertisers and other possible sponsors, but given the economy and my schedule, it’s looking unlikely that a confluence of money and time will lead us to shoot more. So I wanted to let people see it, particularly because it features some actors who should be on more lists. Including Ze Frank, who is now an Angeleno.
The web series business model has proved tough for everyone to figure out. Yes, Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible was fantastic, but even that couldn’t get the ad sponsors it should have. Selling through iTunes is an option for someone with Whedon’s name brand, but I don’t see it working for The Remnants, even given the recognizability of some of the cast members.
I retained rights to do other things with The Remnants, so I certainly may come back to it at some point in some other form.
Check it out.
Competing in Ze Frank’s Color Wars, people have been recreating their childhood photos and posting them to the youngnow gallery. Here are a bunch that I animated using a morphing program:

Ze Frank’s extremely popular show, “The Show” is over, but Ze’s still blogging and creating music. Check out: A Social Network for Two, a classy love song for our time.
It’s been one year since Ze Frank started “The Show”. I’ve been a big fan ever since. Yesterday he posted the final episode; he’s come along way since the start.
Ze Frank finally met with Ray, the composer and singer of the internet meme, “Kick Somebody’s Ass”. This has got to be one of Ze’s most memorable shows to date.
I’ve been enjoying the TED conference speeches lately. I particularly liked the ones by Malcalm Gladwell and Ze Frank. I haven’t listened to every one, but the ones I have are so good that I think it’s safe to recommend them all so, subscribe here. Update: The site has changed. Try subscribing to this feed in iTunes.
I’ve been watching ZeFrank’s The Show for a couple of months now. I think he’s a brilliantly witty guy and I’m amazed at what appears to be the very little effort he seems to exert in coming up with clever and humorous shows on a daily basis.
A couple of weeks ago he discussed the possibility of “making the earth a sandwich” by placing two pieces of bread simultaneously directly opposite each other on the globe. I didn’t even bother investigating the “find the opposite tool” because (I thought) I knew that from here it was all just ocean on the other side of the world.
Now for the good news.
It turns out that near the small town of Manyberries, AB (just a short drive from Lethbridge) there is an area of land that is situated exactly tangent from a small island on the other side of the globe that google has labelled as French Southern & Antarctic Lands.
Do you know what this means?!!! Ladies and gentlemen there is a good chance that I’ll be able to help in MAKING THE EARTH A SANDWICH! I just need to discover who in French Southern & Antarctic Lands reads my website, and then see if they would be willing to lay a piece of bread on the ground at these coordinates: 49.34843 by 69.4363? Both pieces of bread need to be sitting there simultaneously for the sandwich to exist so one of us might have to go out in the dark, which I’m totally willing to do.
Is there anybody out there on French Southern & Antarctic Lands? Hello? Anybody?
