Afroman’s guide to recharging alkaline batteries includes not only how to save money on old batteries, but also how to build the charger to do it. His metaphors are a little rough around the edges, but I’ve long held a theory that it’s not as unsafe to recharge the “non-rechargables” as they claim. Afroman busts the myth wide open.

Water Bridge
This is old news considering it opened in 2003, but I still found the story behind Germany’s Water bridge fascinating.

Engineers first dreamt of joining the two waterways as far back as 1919. Construction to bridge the Elbe river near Magdeburg actually started in the 1930s, but progress was halted during the Second World War in 1942. After the Cold War split Germany the project was shelved indefinitely, but things were put back on track following reunification in 1990.
OH DEAR!
Here is a joke I found whilst stumbling around the Internet this morning:
—-
A woman was shopping at her local supermarket where she selected:
* a half-gallon of 2% milk,
* a carton of eggs,
* a quart of orange juice,
* a head of romaine lettuce,
* a 2 lb. can of coffee,
* and a 1 lb. package of bacon.
As she was unloading her items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk man standing behind her watched as she placed the items in front of the cashier.
While the cashier was ringing up her purchases, the drunk man slurred, “You must be single.”
The woman was a bit startled by this proclamation, but she was intrigued by the stranger’s intuition, since she was indeed single.
She looked at her six items on the belt and saw nothing particularly unusual about her selections that could have tipped him off to her marital status.
Curiosity getting the better of her, she said “Well, you know what, you’re absolutely correct. But how on earth did you know that?”
The drunk man touched the side of his nose twice, winked, and lisped, “‘cuz you’re ugly.”

The Face of Dr. Claw Revealed!
As any child of the 80’s can tell you, Inspector Gadget was a pretty sweet cartoon. I always wanted one of those computer books that Inspector Gadget’s niece, Penny, used to foil the M.A.D. crew. It was the most powerful computer ever imagined – even today it would totally own even the most powerful super computer.
I always thought that in the final episode they would reveal Dr. Claw’s face and I just assumed that since I never saw the final episode I just happened to miss it. Well it turns out the show never did reveal his face but now it has been revealed!

(Actually it’s been revealed for over a decade but you can read the details here.)

Another Liger Image

Everybody loves the previous liger image, (I get many people coming to my site for it), so just for the fun of it — here is another one.
Pixelfest

I just came across the collaborative art project, Pixelfest, in which random web surfers like yourself can contribute by changing one pixel per day. Pictured above was the status of the image when I added my own contribution this morning.
