I love this sort of thing! I should have taken a compositing class in University when I had the chance.

Discovered just in time for Halloween is Spook, a short animated ghost story by Vancouver Film Student Megan Majewski.

Spook – Video Link (6.5mb Mov)
NASA has an interesting video tracking 21 named storms from the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season.

I can’t put my finger on why, but for some reason I’m mesmorized by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ music video Maps (45mb mov).
I watched a short clip of Pallywood on Rocketboom, but from what I’ve seen it’s hard to say for sure whether the footage was staged or not. Some footage looks more real than others.
Pallywood, “According to Palestinian Sources…” a film by Richard Landes. International news media extract a few convincing instants of staged scenes — sight-bytes, and present them as news…
You can download Pallywood if it sparks your interest.
Update: After watching the whole thing, I’m still not convinced completely either way, but if what the documentary shows and says is true, then there is no doubt that some of the footage, used in 60 Minutes and other newscasts, was staged.
Personally I think they should have called it Geek TV but semantics aside Nerd TV has weekly one-hour interviews with some of the world’s greatest innovators in the field of computer science.
NerdTV is a new weekly online TV show from PBS.org technology columnist Robert X. Cringely. NerdTV is essentially Charlie Rose for geeks — a one-hour interview show with a single guest from the world of technology. Guests like Sun Microsystems co-founder Bill Joy or Apple computer inventor Steve Wozniak are household names if your household is nerdy enough, but as historical figures and geniuses in their own right, they have plenty to say to ALL of us. NerdTV is distributed under a Creative Commons license so viewers can legally share the shows with their friends and even edit their own versions. If not THE future of television, NerdTV represents A future of television for niche audiences that have deep interest in certain topics.
Episode 1 now available in MPEG 4 format, and here is the official Bit Torrent link.
I went golfing yesterday with my sister, Jackie, and her husband, Glen. I may not have mentioned it before, but Glen is actually a tremendously excellent golfer, (in case you couldn’t tell by his Titleist hat). He used to be a golf pro and still wins the occasional tournament. It was fun to have him there to watch him play and for him to give me some pointers.
I have to say, he was impressed with some of my moves too. In fact he claims that he has never before witnessed someone hit the ball of their own shin. So other than the shin incident, I didn’t think I was so terrible of a golfer for someone that had never golfed before. Here is a video of my powerful swing (2mb).
It’s an, as of yet, unreleased Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Trailer. Looks cool.

Update: To this day, I’ve never actually watched the movie but I love the books.
I made a short video starring my cousin Don’s kids, Brendyn and Ty. I added some really cheesy laser effects and some background music from Star Wars. Check it out (8mb .mov). (Sorry the limited time is up).
Last month, South Park ran a humorous and informative episode titled “All About Mormons”.
From the South Park Studios Website:
“A Mormon kid moves to South Park and Stan has to kick his ass. But when Stan and his dad meet their new Mormon neighbors, they become fascinated with how genuinely nice they are. Meanwhile the other boys mock Stan relentlessly for wimping out.”
If you’re in the United States (or have an IP address in the United States) you can watch the episode here:
Or if you want, you can check out the “audio only” version in 4 parts:
I think pretty much the greatest thing about this episode is that is gives people who don’t know anything about the church a background into how the church started. As someone that knows from personal experience, they tell the Joseph Smith story pretty much just like they do if you were to have the Mormon Missionaries come into your house and tell you the story, except for the part where they call Martin Harris dumb. Mormon Missionaries would never call him dumb — unless they were calling him dumb because he gave his wife the unpublished transcript, then they might but other than that — no way. This episode also portrays what nice people Mormons are — based on some of the Mormon families I know it’s so accurate it’s scary.
