Charlie Brown Christmas Performed by the Cast of Scrubs

I’m a fan of scrubs, and if you are too, you might like this version of Charlie Brown’s Christmas performed by the Scrubs cast.

Here is some backstory.

Take everyone’s favorite Christmas special, mix in a little wackiness from everyone’s favorite medical sitcom, and what do you get? You get the video that’s after the jump: a ten-minute version of A Charlie Brown Christmas with the voices of the cast of Scrubs dubbed in.

And don’t think that this is just Zach Braff, John C. McGinley and company doing a literal reading of the Charlie Brown script; it’s more like a Scrubs episode, complete with flashbacks, girl names, and penis jokes. Even the characters are the same. Except here, JD looks like Chuck, Dr. Cox looks like Linus, Carla looks like Lucy, etc. (And there’s even a Cox Rant ™ or two in there, in places you wouldn’t expect). I’ll let you be surprised at where the other voices pop up.

The video was made during season three for a cast Christmas party. It’s very funny and definitely worth a look.

Modern Day Robin Hood

A modern day Robin Hood was giving out free money and almost causing riots in New York. They claim it’s all in the name of making people feel good.

From the BBC story:

Three Britons dressed as Robin Hood and his Merry Men caused a small stampede in a park in New York after throwing $4,000 (£2,110) into the air.

The pranksters—from Sheffield in England—said they hoped their stunt would encourage New Yorkers to be more polite and “give something back”.

However, the plan reportedly back-fired after passers-by pushed and pulled at each other to grab the free cash.
The men who called themselves the Modern Day Robin Hoods, threw the $4,000, made up of $1, $5,$10 and $20 notes, into the air, sparking the frenzy. Even children were reportedly stepped on, although no-one was seriously hurt.

Rabbit

Rabbit is a creepy remix of old graphics from 1950s illustrations that have been rendered into animation in Adobe After effects. It’s a beautifully creepy story—just in time for Halloween.
Update: PingMag has an interesting interview with director Run Wrake.

Nerd TV

Personally I think they should have called it Geek TV but semantics aside Nerd TV has weekly one-hour interviews with some of the world’s greatest innovators in the field of computer science.

NerdTV is a new weekly online TV show from PBS.org technology columnist Robert X. Cringely. NerdTV is essentially Charlie Rose for geeks — a one-hour interview show with a single guest from the world of technology. Guests like Sun Microsystems co-founder Bill Joy or Apple computer inventor Steve Wozniak are household names if your household is nerdy enough, but as historical figures and geniuses in their own right, they have plenty to say to ALL of us. NerdTV is distributed under a Creative Commons license so viewers can legally share the shows with their friends and even edit their own versions. If not THE future of television, NerdTV represents A future of television for niche audiences that have deep interest in certain topics.

Episode 1 now available in MPEG 4 format, and here is the official Bit Torrent link.

Golfing

I went golfing yesterday with my sister, Jackie, and her husband, Glen. I may not have mentioned it before, but Glen is actually a tremendously excellent golfer, (in case you couldn’t tell by his Titleist hat). He used to be a golf pro and still wins the occasional tournament. It was fun to have him there to watch him play and for him to give me some pointers.

I have to say, he was impressed with some of my moves too. In fact he claims that he has never before witnessed someone hit the ball of their own shin. So other than the shin incident, I didn’t think I was so terrible of a golfer for someone that had never golfed before. Here is a video of my powerful swing (2mb).

It’s an, as of yet, unreleased Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Trailer. Looks cool.

New Video for Download

Ok I kind of like this one (update: video http://www3.telus.net/jefmil/blog/shrinking.mov offline), even though the effects are really cheezy. Get it while you can, I’m not sure if I’ll leave these on the web forever.

New Media Update

I’ve been working on a new video project since lunch time. I am really sick of it. I never realized how much work it was going to be trying to use a green screen and making it look realistic. I guess some tips I have to offer are that you want to make sure the green screen is exactly the same colour all over and that objects / people you are filming not only aren’t wearing green but are wearing dark colours that contrast well. I still have to do another project for tomorrow and I had to skip swimming again today because I need to get this work done. Next Thursday I have another video due, this time it has to have a Star Trek effect of beaming someone into screen. If either of these two projects turn out I’ll post them here.
